Erica Johnston

When Johnston Dental Care first formed in 2007, Erica was an integral part of its conception from writing the human resource manual to keeping the books and payroll to helping create the logo. Matt and Erica worked hand in hand to form Johnston Dental Care – usually with a baby on her hip.

Erica continues to manage the business end of Johnston Dental Care, creating effective systems to run smoothly and managing the human resources and accounting. She handles marketing and is the creative mind behind the No Cavity Club t-shirts. She facilitates employee recognition and team unity opportunities. She also handles the interior design and decoration.

Erica earned a bachelor’s degree in English literature with a minor in business from Utah Valley University and a Master’s degree in bilingual/bicultural studies from LaSalle University. Her favorite hobbies are reading and cheering on her kids from the stands. Her marriage and children are her greatest joy and most fulfilling success. She’s also ridiculously funny.

Summer – Scheduling Coordinator, Front Desk Lead

Born in Jefferson, Iowa, Summer has called Grants Pass home since she was just three years old. She’s been in the dental field since 2015 and brings energy and enthusiasm to everything she does. Summer loves the fast-paced, always-busy vibe of the office—there’s never a dull moment! In her spare time, you’ll find her cruising with the music up, relaxing at the beach, or soaking in some good reggae vibes.

Laney – Hygiene Scheduling Coordinator

Laney was born and raised in Grants Pass, Oregon, and grew up in a close-knit family with four sisters. She graduated from Grants Pass High School and attended Southern Oregon University prior to beginning her career in dentistry. Laney has been working in the dental since 2023 and truly enjoys the impact she can make on patients’ experiences. She is passionate about educating patients and helping them feel comfortable and confident during their visits. She also thrives in the fast-paced environment of a dental office and values being part of a supportive team. Outside of work, Laney loves spending time with family and friends, playing pickleball, and enjoying the outdoors. She’s also a self-proclaimed foodie who enjoys trying new restaurants and traveling whenever she can.

Nancy – Insurance Coordinator

Nancy was born and raised in Grants Pass. She has been working in the dental field since 2015 in both general and orthodontic practices. Her favorite part of working at Johnston Dental Care is working with people who genuinely care about their patients and coworkers. She has been married to her best friend since 2014 and is a mother to two beautiful girls and one handsome boy. Her favorite activities outside of work include hiking, going to the coast and spending time with her family.

Kim – New Patient Representative

Kim grew up in Grants Pass and graduated from North Valley High School. She is bilingual, and happy to help our Spanish speaking patients feel heard and comfortable during their appointments. When she is not at work, she loves being outdoors and traveling. Spontaneous trips are the best! She also loves spending time with friends and family, but most importantly, with her husband.

Brandi – Treatment Planner

Brandi was raised in Southern Oregon and brings over eight years of experience in the medical field, where she developed a true passion for caring for others. In 2025, she transitioned into dentistry and loves being part of a team that helps patients feel comfortable and cared for, because a positive experience is just as important as great care. Outside of work, Brandi is a proud mom to two boys who keep life fun and full of adventure. Along with their dog, Lily, they enjoy spending time outdoors, especially hiking and exploring together.

Makaela – Receptionist

Born and raised in Grants Pass, Makaela has been working in the dental field since 2023. She enjoys building lasting relationships with patients and loves being part of creating a positive dental experience from the very start. Outside of work, Makaela treasures time with her family and her pup, Nash. She also has a passion for traveling and exploring new places.
